d o u c y - urban abstract Vancouver photography by Chris Yakimov
This is very close to where the girl in the previous shot is walking. Seemed sort of poetic. This one is primarily cropping and a levels adjustment.
Top notch stuff! I love the post-prod, as it gives me an extra sense of grime. I won't go into the symbolism, as it's subjective... but I would buy this one to put up in my house for what it says to me.

I, for one, like the image of niece and her man. There's something very '60's about it. makes me want to put on some Jimmy Hendrix and get groovy!

@White Raven: thanks - the truth is that the original was way too dark, way too red, and had no contrast, so it was all i could do to pull out the forms in the image by blasting the contrast. happy accidents, right...

Absolutely wanderful! Love everythig about it, the composition, the colours and the feel of the entire thing. I would buy it and so would many others, I'm sure.

Jenni: thoughts on the symbolism potential here?
DM @ 2006-04-15 16:03:59
Linking it back to the photo of the girl, I feel that she has left something beautiful behind, something has been lost, a piece of her stolen by the darkness. It speaks to a struggle, hardship, how the feather wasn't sturdy enough to persevere. (I love the sheen on the feather! Creates a lot of mood). Mind you, I also see tarry lungs full of cigarette butts (my job has clearly penetrated my psyche). I see an oil spill, industry soiling nature. A feather in someone's cap ...or butt ... whatever. This is like a Rorschach inkblot. We should really ask the expert - the photographer who also studied psychology - as to what it all means. Other thoughts or interpretations?
