One of the unexpected benefits of having my camera fail on me has been the impetus to go trolling through all my photographs. I've since pulled about 10 out of the archives which I like, a few for their potential. This is one of them - the original is much more washed out, but I love what the water did in this photo, and find that the severe angle works (which is rarely the case).
It stood alone with a simple Level adjustment increase the contrast and bring up the darks. But I then went and played a little on the Red channel, and added a couple of gradient washes to intensify the direction of the transition from light to dark. None of this was necessary, really; but it is fun to play in Photoshop to see what kind of effects happen when you blend pixels. It helps me learn just how they behave and interact. :)
