This is an old scanned cross processed shot from I don't know when - I stumbled across it going through my archives looking for another photo, which I sadly never found. Actually, that's not completely true: I have the low res photo-blog version, but the .PSD from which I generated that is lost. Too bad - it was my favorite of my own photos for a very long time (and still might be). If you're curious, you can see it here.
Anyway, I find that the common elements in the two pictures are elements that seem to sort of comfort me in my own work. I don't know if that makes sense, but it's not like I think these are my "best" kind of image, and I'm not sure they are my general favourite kind of image, but when I get film back, or when I look in my viewer, this kind of image evokes a kind of satisfaction that I find interesting, if puzzling. It' almost as if all that texture, that rust, that grit, is a kind of itch. And taking the photo is the act of scratching.
