This is a reprise of my first blogged photograph ever. Back in 2006, I was very interested in blowing out the contrast and colours, which is probably why I gravitated to shooting slide film to cross process. But when I go back and look at it, there's a part of me that feels like I may have done the shot more justice with some more subtle post. Not that I'm good at doing post in a subtle fashion, but I wanted to give it a try.
The original was taken in 2005 on the steps of the Scarfe Building at UBC (where they do teacher Education). I was finishing my MA, and was full of the cynicism and criticism UBC students often feel when going through the "big machine". I thought the discovered shadow was particularly apt. No cropping here.
